Horse Management 101 is a two-day, hands-on workshop designed for new and existing horse owners and enthusiasts who want to build foundational knowledge in horse care, behavior, and management. Participants will gain practical skills using resources within Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and work directly with experienced instructors in classroom and arena settings.
This program is ideal for beginners, those returning to horses after time away, or anyone wanting to learn safe, effective horsemanship and management practices.
Participants will explore essential horse-related topics such as:
- Evaluating and purchasing a horse
- Assessing vital signs and lameness
- Preventive health care: vaccinations and deworming
- Equine Nutrition
- Horse behavior and safe handling
- Foundational horsemanship skills
Course Participation
Open to adults 18 year and older. Designed for new or prosepctive horse owners intersted in learning safe and practical horsemanship. This workshop will help build confidence and foundational skills for horse management. The course is an in-person at Texas A&M Hildebrand Equine Complex. Space is limited to ensure individual attention ans quality learning.

Cost: $225 per person
Includes: In-person instruction, materials, lunch both day and hands-on learning experiences.
