August Competitive Teams Update

September 6th, 2023

Livestock Judging Team

The Saddle and Sirloin Club in conjunction with the Livestock Judging Team held the Saddle and Sirloin Futurity at the Brazos County Expo Center on August 18-20. There were 287 steers, 204 heifers, and 129 market hogs entered for the event.  Throughout the weekend, 4-H and FFA exhibitors competed in the multiple species shows and showmanship contests. 


Meat Judging Team

The Texas A&M Meat Judging Team volunteered at the Hospice Brazos Valley Hog Splash on Saturday, August 26. 

The FTAMJT ’23 team will hit the road September 18 for their first contest of the fall, The Eastern National, in Wyalusing, PA. 


Ranch Horse Team

The Ranch Horse Team hosted tryouts on Thursday, August 17. Four new members made the team including from left to right (first picture): Leila Anderson, Ella Fowler, Charlee Proctor and Chastain Spiller! 

Lastly we are hosting a show here in conjunction with SHTX at the end of September! This is a huge deal and brand new this year. Follow along with the Texas A&M Ranch Horse Team on Facebook for updates and more information.


Rodeo Team

The Texas Aggie Rodeo Team hosted the ALL Aggie Rodeo on September 9 at the Brazos County Expo.

The college rodeo season starts September 23-24 at the Panola College Rodeo.

  • October 5-7: SWTJC-Uvalde (2 go)
  • October 20-21: NETXCC-Mt. Pleasant (1 go)
  • October 27-28: McNeese-Lake Charles (1 go)
  • November 9-11: Sam Houston State University (2 go)
