2020-2021 Judging Team Results
Livestock Judging The Texas A&M Livestock Judging team had a dominant spring, winning both the Cattlemen’s Congress in Oklahoma City (replacement for the National Western) and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. This is the first A&M team since 2012 to have won both major spring contests, and only the fourth team total in the past fifteen years to do so. Dairy Challenge Team places second at recent contest
The 2021 Western Regional Dairy Challenge contest was held virtually March 3-5. Students received contest data and participated in virtual farm tours on Wednesday and presented their findings to the judges on Friday. The Department of Animal Science team, consisting of five students, placed second in the contest. The team will go on to compete virtually at the national contest in April. Livestock judging team wins State Fair of Texas Intercollegiate contest
The Texas A&M Livestock Judging Team did not let the current pandemic stand in the way of success at the 2020 State Fair of Texas. While practicing social distancing and abiding by safety standards, the team brought home top honors, in more ways than one. In addition to being the high team overall, Texas A&M also finished first in the reasons, cattle and sheep and goat divisions, as well as second in the swine division. Texas FFA honors Griffin and Riley with Honorary Lone Star Degree
Dr. Davey Griffin & Ray Riley were awarded honorary lone star degrees by the Texas FFA Association at their annual convention, held in Fort Worth on July 15-19, 2019. Each year, the association honors those who have rendered meritorious service to agricultural education and the FFA. Each year, local chapters honor school officials, local business owners, farmers, parents and alumni to receive the honorary chapter degree. Judging teams successful at multiple contests
The Department of Animal Science competitive judging teams have hit the ground running this semester between the long hours of practice they have put in and contests they have traveled to. The meat judging team kicked things off at the American Meat Science Association Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest in Fort Worth on Feb. 3. They placed third in the contest with Layne Mustian placing fifth overall individually. Texas Tech University won the contest by 56 points. Kansas State University came in second. Aggies named champions at Bryan Stock Horse of Texas show
By: Morgan Moreno Aggies win first stock horse competition of the season On Saturday, Sept. 25, the Texas A&M Stock Horse Team competed in their first show of the 2017-2018 school year. The Aggies took top honors as the Division I High Point Team over Texas Tech University. Senior captains, Lane Birkenfeld and Lisa Jordan, excelled in the non-pro division, finishing as second and third place all-around, respectively. The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team was privileged to be the only judging team from the United States invited to compete in the 2017 Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia on July 3-9, 2017.
