Summer Horsemanship School Program – Student Instructor Opportunity

Travel throughout the state of Texas conducting horsemanship schools in the summer of 2025!

The annual Summer Horsemanship School program provides Texas A&M students the opportunity to develop horsemanship and teaching skills under the direction of AgriLife Extension and Animal Science faculty during the spring and then implement those skills in teaching two and three-day horsemanship schools across the state of Texas in the summer.

Student instructors will receive:

Purposeful instruction on multiple disciplines within horsemanship, including western and hunt seat
Breakthrough development of teaching and presentation skills with all audiences
Compensation, plus paid travel expenses during summer teaching
Memorable experiences, resume advantages, and enhanced networking

Required resources to fulfill the position:

A well broke, advanced horse suitable for teaching
- Western or hunter-type horse is an appropriate mount. They must be well-trained, obedient, and easy to handle, and agreeable to travel. Horses that are “green broke” are not acceptable mounts for this program.
- A limited number of Texas A&M horses are available to students on a competitive basis. Please contact Chelsie Huseman as soon as possible if you would like to be considered for use of one.
Appropriate tack to include, but not limited to, saddle, saddle pad, bridle with a snaffle bit or curb bit
- Western or hunter equipment is acceptable. Tack must be safe and in good working order. Severe devices will not be allowed.
Truck and horse trailer (preferred but not mandatory)
