As a student, you will receive scientific training and hands-on experience that allows you to incorporate knowledge from several fields of study. The Department of Animal Science offers dynamic and challenging undergraduate and graduate programs that cover a broad variety of fields including animal behavior, animal biotechnology, beef cattle, dairy science, equine science, food science and technology, meat science, physiology of reproduction, sheep, and goats, and swine.
You will meet other students with similar interests while gaining experience working with animals through hands-on laboratories, student organizations, and judging teams.

Animal Science Ambassadors
The ambassador program facilitates the selection and training of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who have a passion to serve the Department of Animal Science through representation, recruitment, and education in animal science programs. Department ambassadors engage in professional development including areas in leadership, communication, etiquette, and scholarship to serve as career preparation and advocacy for the animal sciences.
Our ambassadors are one of the first groups of department representatives who meet potential students, incoming freshmen and transfer students during recruiting events and New Student Conferences. Interested students apply to be part of the ambassador group and devote at least two years of service. For more information about the ambassador program, please contact Donna Witt.
Animal Science Graduate Student Association
The Animal Science Graduate Student Association works to foster close relationships between Animal Science graduate students and faculty among all disciplines of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, to encourage leadership to promote greater interest in the Animal Science profession, and to promote participation in professional activities.

Animal Welfare & Behavior Club
The mission of the Animal Welfare and Behavior Club is to promote awareness and education of animal welfare to Texas A&M University and the greater Bryan-College Station area through presentations, guest speakers, service, and educational trips.

Competitive Teams
The competitive team program at Texas A&M University is rich in tradition, attracting students from across the nation. The program can be traced to the early 1900s with the first Texas A&M University Livestock Judging Team. The 10 competitive teams in the department have a rich tradition of excellence, and students acquire work ethic, public speaking capabilities, leadership development, and critical thinking skills
