Professional Summary

Dr. Jacquelyn Prestegaard-Wilson is an Assistant Professor and AgriLife Extension Livestock Sustainability Specialist stationed at Texas A&M University in College Station. She develops Extension educational programs to increase scientific literacy of livestock and environmental stewardship in Texas and across the US.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at University of Illinois in 2015, her Master’s of Science in Animal Science with an emphasis on beef feedlot nutrition in 2017, and her PhD from Virginia Tech in 2022 with an emphasis on lactating dairy cattle nutrition. Her graduate worked focused on improving amino acid efficiency of feedlot cattle and modelling amino acid metabolism in dairy cattle. In her graduate research she sought to model the ideal balance between economic feasibility for beef and dairy producers and environmental stewardship. She also worked postdoctorally at Select Sires, Inc. to model individual intake of lactating dairy cattle using ear activity monitors with the goal of improving genomic selection of animals with desirable residual feed intake.

Prestegaard-Wilson is a member of the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, American Dairy Science Association, American Society of Animal Science, Texas Farm Bureau, Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association and Texas Cattle Feeders Association.
