Professional Summary
Dr. Pablo Guarnido Lopez is a postdoctoral research assistant in the Texas A&M University Department of Animal Science, and focuses on new technologies and techniques to help decision-making of cattle farmers and improve their feed efficiency and sustainability. From a beef cattle family, Dr. Guarnido finished veterinary medicine and started worked as nutritional advisor for feedlots and cow-calf operations. Afterwards, he decided to study his Ph.D. in the INRA, where he learned all about the requirements, feed efficiency, and physiological processes underlying feed efficiency process in ruminants.
Always with his practical mind, he decided to keep working on the animal requirements and feed efficiency but using new techniques which helps both data collection, analysis and models. These techniques are involved on PLF (precision livestock farming), which consist in the use of new captors, sensors, electronic devices, to record individual animal data and analyze the results to help decision-making of cattle farmers by improving feeding practices, selection within-farm or reproduction.
