Dr. Thomas B. Hairgrove is a Professor and Extension Specialist in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, certified in Beef Cattle Practice.
He collaborates with Texas livestock producers, County Extension Agents, and practicing veterinarians using applied research methods to address current animal health issues. He delivers county, regional, and state educational programming to livestock producers. He facilitates and provides educational programming to practicing veterinarians at the annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Shortcourse. He is an active member of the Texas Animal Health Commission’s Trichomoniasis working group.
He is a member of the American Society of Animal Science, American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, Society of Theriogenology, Evidence-Based Medicine Veterinary Association, Academy of Veterinary Consultants, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas.
Dr. Hairgrove received the Vice Chancellors Award for Excellence in Special Services and was recognized as Specialist of the Year by the Texas County Agricultural Agents Association. The American Association of Bovine Practitioners awarded him the Merial Preventative Medicine Award. He received the Diagnostician of the Year Award from The Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, the Career Achievement Award from the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine.
