Testimonials

2018 AQHYA World Show Horse Judging Contest winners from Texas, many of whom are past TAMU Horse Judging Camp attendees, including the 2018 High point individual, and members of the world champion and reserve world champion teams.

“I attended the Horse Judging Camp during the summer of 2013 after receiving the opportunity to represent Maryland at FFA Nationals and I can easily say that it was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a youth judge. The one on one instruction that was provided from the coaches and team members, especially with reasons, and the true dedication of everyone involved with the campers was instrumental in allowing my team and I to compete at Multiple Judging completions, including Quarter Horse Congress and FFA Nationals. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in receiving the best education possible in a judging field. Because of this camp program, I am excited to be applying to Texas A&M this upcoming year.”

-Kelly Poe, Maryland

“At Paint Youth World I placed 5th in Team Halter. At the AQHA Congress I placed 10th in Individual Halter, 10th in Team Halter, 10th in Team Overall and was ranked 13th Overall out of 104 youth. In the Minnesota State 4-H Judging Contest I placed 6th in Individual Reasons, 3rd in Team Reasons and 3rd Team Overall. Through the skills I learned at camp this summer I was able to make top 10 in the last three judging contests. THANKS!! If my schedule allows, I hope to attend the camp again next summer. Thanks again!!!”

-Sally Russell, Minnesota

“I went to the June 5-7 Horse Judging Camp and I LOVED IT!!! The dorms were very nice and the food was really good! I learned a ton about judging. Before I came to the camp, I had no clue how to do reasons, and when I left I had done 3 sets. A few girls from the judging team taught us with slideshows and videos for each of the classes and helped us write our first set of reasons. I would definitely recommend it and would love to go again next year!”

“My name is Charlie Sokolov and I just wanted to say thank you for putting on the horse judging camp in the summer of 2013. I struggled a lot last year with my halter classes and second guessing myself in general. Your camp gave me the confidence I needed, resulting in a 5th place individual and a second highest scoring FFA individual at the 2014 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. I look forward to attending your camp this year. Thank you again for your help.”
