From the meat locker to the boardroom, seven members of the 2025 Fightin’ Texas Aggie Meat Judging Team are making their mark this summer through internships with companies, government agencies, and laboratories across the country. The Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science emphasizes high-impact learning opportunities as a cornerstone of student success.

Students can choose from more than 100 high-impact experiences, including study abroad and domestic trips, undergraduate research, internships, and participation on one of the department’s 10 competitive teams.

“Our students are a product of the department,” said Clay Mathis, Ph.D., department head. “We strive to give them transformational academic and experiential learning opportunities.”

The department’s strategic goal is for every student to complete at least one high-impact learning experience during their time at Texas A&M. For these seven meat judgers, internships represent their second such opportunity — building on the skills they develop as team members, including public speaking, teamwork, and dedication. Many former team members credit the experience with shaping their professional success.

The department congratulates these students for their pursuit of excellence and their continued representation of Texas A&M.
