Professional Summary

Dr. Karl Harborth is an Assistant Professor and Extension Livestock Specialist stationed at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Corpus Christi. He is also a member of the beef cattle section in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University. Karl earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M in 2001, his master’s in animal science from Texas A&M University in 2003, and his doctorate in ruminant nutrition from Kansas State University in 2006.

As an extension livestock specialist Harborth works with county extension agents, livestock producers, and allied industry partners to increase the sustainability of the livestock industry. His areas of interests include cow-calf and stocker nutrition, improving beef carcass quality through genetics and management, and increasing the overall sustainability of livestock production.

Professional memberships include the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientist, and the Plains Nutrition council.
