South Texas Beef and Forage Field Day scheduled for May 8
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension County Agents from Atascosa, Bee, Goliad, Jim Wells, Karnes, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio Counties, along with Dr. Jamie Foster, from the Texas AgriLife Research Station in Beeville and Dr. Karl Harborth, assistant professor and extension livestock specialist in the Texas A&M Department of Animal Science, have teamed up for the inaugural 2024 South Texas Beef and Forage Field Day.
The event will be held on May 8, 2024, at the Twisted Ranch Events and Design, 3360 Hwy 59, Beeville, Texas. Participants will hear from several Texas AgriLife specialists from Corpus Christi discussing weed management, beef and hay economic outlook, wildlife habitat considerations, and conclude with a producer panel discussing what adaptability means to South Texas livestock production. Lunch will be served and the event will move to the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station at 3507 Hwy 59 E, Beeville, Texas, to talk about cow adaptability and grazing, livestock supplementation strategies, linking carbon and water to forage production and brush control.
