The Texas A&M Animal Welfare Judging Team competed in the 23rd Annual Animal Welfare Judging and Assessment Contest held at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on November 17, 2023. The contest included an evaluation of cate free laying hens, farmed bison, tortoises in a zoo, and a live assessment of laboratory rats. All three of the Texas A&M teams placed in their respective divisions. In preparation for the contest, the students interacted with experts from the Houston Zoo, 310 Bison Ranch, Aggieland Safari, the Winnie Carter Wildlife Center, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, the Texas A&M Poultry Science Department, the Texas A&M Comparative Medicine Program, and Novartis.
