Second Annual All Judging Teams Reunion Held
The second annual Department of Animal Science All Judging Teams Reunion was held September 13, 2019, at the Brazos County Expo. Former judging team members and their families enjoyed an evening of fellowship, camaraderie, and reliving the good old days. Attendees were greeted with a special treat as they entered the Brazos Expo Friday night. Judging teams successful at multiple contests
The Department of Animal Science competitive judging teams have hit the ground running this semester between the long hours of practice they have put in and contests they have traveled to. The meat judging team kicked things off at the American Meat Science Association Southwestern Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest in Fort Worth on Feb. 3. They placed third in the contest with Layne Mustian placing fifth overall individually. Texas Tech University won the contest by 56 points. Kansas State University came in second. AgriLife Extension sheep shearing school fills crucial void in the industry

Over the three-day course, students learned how to shear sheep and received an overview of key aspects of the shearing industry. Livestock, wool teams reserve champions
Both the livestock and wool judging teams brought back reserve champion honors from their respective contests at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. In addition to reserve, the wool team also placed third overall with a second team.
