Dr. Joe Gillespie grew up in the small Texas town of Poteet, south of San Antonio. From the time he was 10 years old, Gillespie knew he wanted to be a veterinarian and appropriately, always wanted to attend Texas A&M. Writer: Olivia Norton Mary Anne (Wegenhoft) White has never questioned her passion for animals. She grew up near Baton Rouge, La., and often visited her dad’s family ranch in Columbus, Texas.
