Gill appointed as interim department head of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications

Dr. Mark Hussey announced today that Dr. Clare Gill will be serving as the new interim department head of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications, effective August 1, 2017.

Dr. Gill completed her Ph.D. from University of Adeliade, located in Australia, in molecular genetics. Her bachelor’s degree in biotechnology is from Flinders University of South Australia. She joined the Texas A&M Department of Animal Science in 1999 and currently serves as a Professor of Animal Genomics. Additionally, she just completed a term as the Faculty Ombuds officer for Texas A&M which allowed her to serve as an independent, confidential, and impartial resource for faculty. Over the past 6 years she has held various positions at Texas A&M University which include Associate Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity. She was also named a faculty fellow in the Division of Research and provided leadership on the coordination of core facilities infrastructure at A&M.

In 2014, Dr. Gill received a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching. While teaching, her objective was to bring enthusiasm and passion for the subject to the classroom, in order to create an environment conducive to student learning. She also received a Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Research as part of the McGregor Bovine Genomics Team, in 2009.
