Smart With ChexCOLLEGE STATION — The Texas A&M Department of Animal Science will host a special showcase of a dozen American quarter horses available for sale on May 1, 2015 in College Station.

The horses will be available for viewing and demonstrations from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Freeman Arena on FM 2818.

The horses are owned by the Department of Animal Science, a recognized breeder of American Quarter Horses for more than 50 years, and have been trained by students taking classes in Animal Science.  As part of the Equine Behavior and Training course, students have spent the semester training and caring for the horses used primarily for western performance activities. The semester culminates with the selling of the horses.

The showcase is open to the public. Horses may be purchased on May 1, however, if you are unable to attend, you may schedule another time to view the horses, said Dr. Martha Vogelsang, senior lecturer.

In addition to the horses trained in class, the department has several other horses available for sale through the Horse Center.
