2010 TAMU Horse Judging Team

The two year season of the 2010 TAMU Horse Judging Team is complete. This winning team brought home four out of five championships, which include first place team at the National Reining Horse Futurity, National Reining Breeders Classic, Arabian Horse Nationals and the All-American Quarter Congress. The 2010 TAMU Horse Judging Team also won three high individual awards; Congress, NRBC, and NRHA Futurity.

The TAMU Horse Judging Team was the only team to have four individuals in the top ten at the NRHA Futurity and the Congress. The individuals in the top ten at the NRHA are Erin Grace, first; Lauren Fulce, fourth; Adrienne Paquette, sixth; and Leslie Wagner, ninth. At the Congress top individuals include Fulce, first; Amanda Zuniga, fourth; Wagner, sixth; and Brooke Byrd, ninth.

The 2010 TAMU Horse Judging Team finished their run at the AQHA World Show where they finished ninth in a very tight contest, where the point spread between first through tenth was 50 points.
Team members include Brooke Byrd of Helotes; Shellie Dalluge of Nevada; Lauren Fulce of Irving; Erin Grace of Florida; Leslie Wagner of McAllen; Adrienne Paquette of Plano; and Amanda Zuniga of Charlotte.

The team is coached by Dr. Clay Cavinder. Assistant coach is Jeannette Mawyer of Virginia.

2010 TAMU Livestock Judging Team

The 2010 TAMU Livestock Judging Team finished their year at the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky. where the team finished fourth overall.

Oklahoma State University, Kansas State University and Texas Tech University finished first through third, respectively. Lance Bearb of Churchpoint, La. placed fourth high individual; Cassidy Hayes of Port Lavaca, sixth high; Joe Rathmann of Bastrop, sixteenth high; and Webb Fields of Mt. Pleasant, 27th high.

This hard-working, disciplined and dedicated group of young men and women had a very successful year and were named the outstanding team for the overall season. Franke, Muntean, Sloan and Thorne were awarded the outstanding coaches for the overall season. The Livestock Team won Tulsa State Fair, State Fair of Texas, Houston Livestock Show, and Flint Hills Classic in Butler, Kan. They also finished  econd at Wichita, the National Barrow Show and the Exposure Female Sale at Stillwater, Okla. The team placed third at the American Royal and the San Antonio Livestock Show.

Team members also include Kevin Gleason of Waxahachie; Kaitlyn Grimshaw of Pleasanton; Rebecca Hamilton of Woodbine, Md.; Casey Henly of St. Augustine; Kenton Kirkpatrick of Bryan; Kasey Lettunich of Stephenville; Chance Muehlstein of Kerrville; Corey Taylor of Humble; Dustin Valusek of Rosharon; Brian Weaver of Center Point; Caleb Wendt of Needville; Sydney Wilkinson of Trinidad, Colo.; and Paul Wunderlich of Brenham.

The team is coached by Jake Franke. Assistant coaches are Carl Muntean, Cody Sloan and Jake Thorne.

2010 TAMU Meat Judging Team

2010 TAMU Meat Judging Team

The International in Dakota City, Neb. marked the last contest for the 2010 TAMU Meat Judging Team, where they placed fifth overall.

This hardworking team also won fifth at the High Plains in Plainview and the American Royal in Omaha, Neb. At the Eastern National in Wyalusing, Pa. the meat team placed eighth overall. Individual awards include Jessica Steger first in specifications, second in beef grading and fourth in lamb judging; Katie Fritz second overall; Clay Eastwood second in lamb judging and reasons, and third in beef judging; Henry Hilscher fifth in pork judging; and Mathew Markwood fifth in beef judging.

Team members include Clay Eastwood of New Braunfels; Michael Fincher of Franklin; Katie Fritz of Fredericksburg; Henry Hilscher of Shiner; Stephen Lopez of Menard; Matthew Markwood of Mansfield; Katie Rauch of Little Hocking, Ohio; Jessica Steger of Del Valle; and Aline Theodoro of Vila Velha, Brazil.

Team coordinator is Dr. Davey Griffin, and team coaches are Laura May of Hurricane Mills, Tenn. and Will Wiederhold of Troy.
