Stock Horse Team Competes at Inaugural Intercollegiate Stock Horse Competition
LUBBOCK, TEXAS (April 29, 2007) - The Texas A&M University Stock Horse Team competed at the Inaugural Intercollegiate Stock Horse Competition held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock on April 29th. This was the first ever contest of this type held for college students and over 60 individuals from Clemson University, Stephen F. Austin University, Sterling Colorado Junior College, Tarleton State University, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University competed in the competition. Of the seven competing students from Texas A&M, four placed in the the top ten overall in various divisions with several top five placings in individual classes. Students competed on Texas A&M University-owned horses in four different judged events including pleasure, trail, reining and cowhorse. More competitions are planned for this fall. The team is supported by private donations from Mayer Cattle Company and the Brazos County Horse Extension Committee.
