Dr. Vogelsang teaches undergraduate courses in horse production and management and graduate courses in equine reproductive physiology. She also directs research in equine reproduction and has particular interest in factors relating to reproductive efficiency in the mare including nutrition, thermal stress and regulation of the estrous cycle. She supervises graduate students in the Master of Agriculture program, a two-year, post-graduate degree focusing on equine management.
She has received the Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching-College of Agriculture & Life Sciences from the Association of Former Students and the Outstanding Service Award from the Department of Animal Science. She has served as advisor to the TAMU Horsemen’s Association and currently advises Parson’s Mounted Calvary, a unit sponsored by the Office of the Commandant.
Professional memberships include the American Society of Animal Science, American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists, the Equine Science Society - President 2005-2007, and the Society for the Study of Reproduction and Gamma Sigma Delta. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Animal Physiology.
