Dr. David Lunt is Professor, Associate Head of Operations, and McGregor Research Center Superintendent. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in animal science from Brigham Young University, a doctorate in meat science and muscle biology from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Lunt manages the 6,372 acre McGregor Research Center and oversees all animal teaching, research and extension facilities operated by the Department of Animal Science.  These facilities include the Beef Center, F&B Road Property, Freeman Arena, Horse Center, Nutrition Physiology Laboratory, O.D. Butler Animal Science Teaching, Research and Extension Center, Pearce Pavilion, Physiology Field Laboratory on Highway 50, Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center, Sheep and Goat Center, Swine Center, TAMU Farm, and Thomsen Animal Euthenics Center.

Previously, Lunt lived in New Mexico and Arizona where he was a managing partner in six ranches and three farms. Professional memberships include the American Society of Animal Science, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Alpha Zeta.
