The Beef Cattle Section provides teaching, research and Extension activities to Texas beef producers and students. Texas ranks first in the nation in total cattle numbers (14 million head) and also has the broadest spectrum of producers and variation in production environments. The beef cattle industry is by far the largest sector in the Texas agriculture industry.

Texas Cooperative Extension beef specialists are located in regional offices across the state to meet the needs of Texas ranchers and cattlemen. The Extension beef group provides

adult eduational programs such as the Beef Cattle Short Course and local and regional beef workshops and clinics throughout the year.

The beef cattle teaching program at Texas A&M features educational resources on all components of the Texas beef industry. Students and faculty have access to state of the art facilities in beef cattle research including the TAMU Beef Center, Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center, and research and Extension centers across the state. There are a variety of classes for undergraduate students to learn more about beef cattle, and master's and doctorate degrees are offered in beef cattle.
