Dr. Laura White is a lecturer in the equine science section of the Department of Animal Science and is responsible for teaching Equine Behavior and Training and coordinates all lab sections. She also teaches Equestrian Technology and serves as the stock horse team advisor.
Laura received her bachelor's degree in animal science from Texas A&M University in 2004. She earned a master's degree in animal science with an emphasis in equine nutrition from the University of Georgia in 2006. Under the direction of Dr. Josie Coverdale, Laura investigated the use of a yeast culture supplement on digestibility in horses. In 2009, White completed her doctorate degree in animal and veterinary sciences from Clemson University, with an emphasis in pedagogy and higher order thinking in undergraduate agriculture students.
As an undergraduate, Laura was a member of the 2001 All American Quarter Horse Congress Champion Horse Judging Team. She placed individually in the top 5 at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, US Arabian National Horse Judging Contest, Paint Horse Congress, and at the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Laura also taught summer horsemanship clinics across the state of Texas as an undergraduate.
Prior to joining A&M, White worked as an instructor at Clemson University while working on her doctorate and taught equine courses and general animal science courses. She also coached the ranch horse team and reining horse judging team. Laura also implemented youth horse judging clinics and a summer horsemanship series for youth in South Carolina and Georgia.
