It is with great sadness that the Department of Animal Science informs you of the unexpected death of Dr. Howard Hesby, Professor, in the Department of Animal Science since 1971. Dr. Hesby was boarding his plane in the Bush International Airport, Houston, Texas, en route to the American Society of Animal Science Annual meetings in Cincinnati, Ohio, when he collapsed as he was placing his luggage in the overhead compartment of the plane.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 East 29th Street, Bryan, Texas, and the service is planned for Wednesday, July 27, at Peace Lutheran Church, located off FM 2818 (Harvey Mithchell Parkway) and Rio Grande Blvd. (2201 Rio Grande Blvd.) College Station, Texas, at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will follow in the Department of Animal Science's Kleberg Center Atrium following the service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Parking will be available in Lot 61 across from Kleberg Center and Lot 74 in front of the Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center for your parking convenience and everyone is welcome to attend. The actual burial will take place near the family farm in Volga, South Dakota, July 29, with the First Lutheran Church officiating.

Kay Hesby and family have requested, in lieu of flowers, donations in Howard's memory be made to the "Howard Hesby Scholarship Fund" in the Department of Animal Science. Checks should be made payable to the Texas A&M Foundation.
