40th Annual Summer Horsemanship School Program - Hosting a School
The Texas AgriLife Extension Summer Horsemanship School Program provides youth and adults a great opportunity to gain a solid foundation and advance riding skills, regardless of the riding discipline chosen.
Topics: Rein aids, hipping-in, side-passing, two-tracking, bridling-up (collection), stopping, backing, rollbacks, turnarounds (spins), gaits and leads, speed control, simple and flying lead changes, bits and equipment, horse theft awareness, ground safety, and other specialized events.
Registration: Please note that registration is now handled differently than in past years.

Two-day school – 16 hours of instruction - $1300
30 riders $21.67 per rider per day
20 riders $32.50 per rider per day
10 riders $65.00 per rider per day
Three-day school – 24 hours of instruction - $1550
30 riders $17.22 per rider per day
20 riders $25.83 per rider per day
10 riders $51.66 per rider per day
*Maximum attendance is suggested to be 30 riders, in order to maintain a good student to instructor ratio.
*Minimum age of the rider is suggested to be 8 years old, due to length of instructional riding time.
Requirements: Register and submit payment
Secure the facility, participants, and volunteers
Provide housing for instructors’ horses
